Sheppey Promenade Festival starts to celebrate arts, heritage and culture
Sheppey Promenade Festival came about as an idea by Will Palin who suggested how great it would be if all the local arts and heritage groups came together to put on a festival.
This idea was seized upon by a number of groups including The Big Fish, Sheppey Little Theatre and Bluetown Heritage Centre. A number of local artists also joined in. Swale Council helped by contributing money to finance a festival coordinator Alison Young. Alison worked to draw the various strands of the festival together and ran a publicity campaign.
